Be Classy...Settle for Glassy!

Operation: Break Out the Mason Jars...
Eliminate Toxins by Eliminating Plastics

Our body is capable of filtering toxins, but why constantly overload yourself? It's time to do your part and give your body a break...Geezzz!! Take a minute and consider all of the plastics you use on a daily basis. When you really break it down, plastics are everywhere and a constant hazard to our health. I don't believe that a plastic cup or bottle when labeled BPA free is okay for our health or its contents. I notice the chemically taste of my water when, it has sat in a plastic container. I run with a Camelbak, and the water tastes terrible within an hour.

It is important to notice the negative impact that plastics and toxic water have on our environment and health. By doing our part, we can change this growing problem one reusable Mason Jar at a time. Why spend a bunch of money on organic produce and ingredients if you are storing them in a chemical-based container or covering with plastic wrap?? Be logical, by using items that will help your ingredients, not break them down ruining your yummy recipes by pumping them full of toxins. Help your environment and help yourself...I think that sounds pretty good all around!

That being said, it's time to do some Spring Cleaning in Fall and Eliminate as many plastics as you can in your household exchanging them for the ever-so-awesome invention, the Mason Jar!

Things you can use your Mason Jars for:
  • Drinking Glasses instead of bottled water, plastic cups, and plastic bottles.
  • Food Storage Containers instead of plastic sandwich bags, Tupperware containers, Saran Wrap. The Mason Jar stores produce, cheese, dressings, sauces, salads, meats, soup, pasta, leftovers, etc. while keeping it fresher longer. Don't have a lid?? Place aluminum foil or wax paper over the opening and tighten a ring around it! Don't have a ring?? use an elastic/rubber band.
  • Freezing Meals: Add a lid and store your food, they work great! Unthaw your meal by placing it in a pot of warm water until it's ready.
  • On-The-Go Coffee & Tea cup: Add the lid portion to keep it from spilling and cooling.
  • On-The-Go Salad: Add all of your salad contents, take to your work, add your favorite dressing, shake it up, and voila.
  • Juicing & Smoothies For juicing, if you need to store your juice, fill the contents up to the top of your jar to reduce oxygen exposure which breaks down your juice's micronutrients, the process known as, oxidation.
  • Spices, Nuts, Beans, Rice, Grains, Granola, Cereals, Baking Ingredients, and Pastas: After grocery shopping, you should instantly remove and re-store any pre-packaged items, baking goods, produce stored in bags, cheeses, etc. in mason jars. Don't let your quality food items sit in cheap plastics EEEeeeWwww.....!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Health Products: Store your make-up brushes, face tonics, lotions, body scrubs, homemade air fresheners, etc.
  • Canning: The process of preserving your food. The jars and lids are reusable; however, once the jar has been sealed, the lid cannot be re-sealed just used for regular storage.

Tips:
  • I make exceptions sometimes. For instance, when I am going on the road, I use an Aluminum Bottle or BPA Free Camelbak Bottle. These choices are still better than the commercial cheap plastic bottles that bottled water is stored in. You can eliminate money-waste, bottle waste, water waste, and not support the bottled water industry by taking the time to bring a bottle with you on your next errand, to work, or road trip. Be Prepared, Be Smart, and Enjoy the Ice Water yumm!!
  • Get all different shapes and sizes of jars for different storage
  • You can find Mason Jars at Michael's and pretty much everywhere.
Check out the Documentary Tapped (on Netflicks right now) that talks about the harmful effects of the Bottled-Water Industry! I am now only consuming distilled water, check out my most recent blog talking about the harmful effects of Sodium Fluoride and the great benefits of distilled water, HERE!
